Learn how to trade options profitably using the same strategies we use at our Securegate fund.
In educational courses, a common misconception and misguided strategy for trading options continues to surface, stemming from either ignorance, lack of experience, or even deliberate intent. Every option that remains on the market until expiration has, on one side, a profitable trader and, on the other, a losing one. According to our statistics, more than 80% of such options expire worthless. The profit in these cases goes to the option writer.
However, the vast majority of retail traders continue to open long positions, believing that this time, it will be the trade with unlimited profit potential that will cover several previous losing trades with small, predetermined losses.
This flawed concept is repeated over and over until small, predetermined, and limited losses deplete their account balance. We apply the exact opposite principle. We patiently collect premiums that retail traders pay in the hope that this time, it will be the big winning trade. Yes, we expose ourselves to the theoretical risk of unlimited loss and a predefined, limited profit. Just like most professional institutional traders who trade options. The rules for profitable options trading are set this way. It’s like a casino. You can’t usually get rich by playing in a casino. You get rich by running one. The profitable rules for options trading can be found in only one book on the market. Even your broker won’t explain this in their educational materials. Why would they? Many options brokers actively trade or even act as market makers and are more than happy to sell you your long options positions. They know very well that by simply choosing the right side of the trade, they have an 80% chance of profit. Don’t believe it? Look at the options trading results in our fund, follow all our trading transactions, or learn everything you need to know about short selling options in the courses we’ve created for you. All the content is based on our trading practice, so you’ll learn everything you need for long-term profitable options trading.

Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at both novice and experienced traders, portfolio managers, or fund managers looking to enhance their strategies with the concept of options selling.
Do I need any special skills or knowledge?
The basic course explains everything necessary to understand the concept of options trading. The advanced course then provides a detailed explanation and training on how to identify and evaluate the parameters of individual stocks regarding their suitability for an options selling strategy. Upon completing both courses, you should be able to consistently execute profitable trades by following the rules and concepts taught, similar to the performance level we achieve in our fund, which you can view on the fund’s performance page. Naturally, achieving similar results will require training, discipline, and mental resilience. It is also beneficial to be familiar with the economic indicators of companies’ financial health to assess them based on their fundamentals.
Is the fundamental analysis part of the course?
The term “fundamental analysis” is referenced in the course; however, it does not include detailed explanations of specific metrics related to a company’s operations. There is already extensive literature on fundamental analysis, as well as quality online resources where you can improve your skills in analyzing companies from a financial perspective. Beyond that, you will also need to be able to analyze and evaluate the company’s industry, sector, competition, and other factors that could influence its future. These topics are not covered in detail within the courses either.
What is the minimum amount needed for the strategy covered in the course?
The option writing strategy offers a potential annual return ranging from 20% to 50%. The outcome will largely depend on your investment goals, timeframe, and financial capacity. Although this strategy involves trading on margin, you’ll be able to use only your own capital for trades (the reasons and specifics of margin use are explained in the course). Based on the potential returns mentioned, you can calculate the potential growth of your capital over your investment timeframe.
Will I be able to manage using the trading platform?
The Interactive Brokers platform, which we recommend, offers a range of analytical tools, some more complex than others. However, if you’re comfortable working in Excel, you’ll be able to learn how to work with an options chain and a few graphs. The portfolio positions then become similar to rows and columns with values that you define, much like in Excel. In the course, we’ll show you the platform settings and information we use ourselves.
If you’re already using a platform that offers options trading, you don’t need to change anything. The options selling strategy can be implemented with any broker and platform that supports options trading.
